Dewsbury Church of the Nazarene Loving God and Loving Neighbour

About Us

Dewsbury Church of the Nazarene is part of the International Church of the Nazarene.

The mission of the Church of the Nazarene is to make Christ-like disciples in the nations. Dewsbury Church of the Nazarene aims to do just that in the town of Dewsbury and the surrounding area. We have had a presence in the town for over 80 years.

We aim to be a safe place where all are welcome.

The Pastor

The Church of the Nazarene

Joseph (Joe) Prescott has been a part of the church for his whole life. He started attending as a newborn and has been ever since.

He has served as church board member, guitar player youth leader and local preacher over the years.

In November 2016 he became part of a temporary pastoral team and during this time felt God was calling him to stay.

In May 2017 he was officially inducted as the pastor of the church.

He loves coffee, football (especially Huddersfield Town!) and music.

Dewsbury Church of the Nazarene is a member of Churches Together in Dewsbury, an ecumenical group comprising of many different churches within the town.

The Church of the Nazarene is a Great Commission church (Matthew 28:19-20). As a global community of faith, we are commissioned to take the good news of life in Jesus Christ to people everywhere and to spread the message of scriptural holiness (Christ-like living) across the lands.

The Church of the Nazarene bonds together individuals who have made Jesus Christ Lord of their lives, sharing in Christian fellowship and seeking to strengthen each other in faith development through worship, preaching, training, and service to others.

We strive to express the compassion of Jesus Christ to all persons, along with our personal commitment to Christ-like living.

While the primary motive of the church is to glorify God, we also are called to actively participate in His mission - reconciling the world to himself.

Nazarenes are becoming a sent people - into homes, work places, communities, and villages, as well as other cities and countries. Missionaries are now sent from all regions of the world. God continues calling ordinary people to do extraordinary things, made possible through the Holy Spirit.
